Twin section vs single — which suits my household?

If you sort laundry (whites/colours, by person, by fabric) — go twin (#1, #2, #5). If you wash everything together — single (#3, #8) is fine.

What capacity does my household need?

Rule of thumb: 25L per person per wash cycle. A single person doing one wash a week needs 30-50L; a family of four needs 80-100L+ split across one or two hampers.

Should the hamper live in the bedroom or the laundry?

In the bedroom or ensuite, almost always. That way clothes go straight from body to hamper without a holding-floor stage. The pull-out cupboard picks (#2, #3) are the exception — they live in the laundry but only because they’re completely hidden.

Do any of these have lids?
